Ayo is the Yoruba sowing game for two players. Each side has six pits and the board holds 48 seeds. Collect 25 to win.

Relay sowingWhen your last seed lands in a pit that already holds seeds, lift them all and keep sowing. The turn ends when the last seed lands in an empty pit or makes a 4 that is collected. With collect on 4 off, ending in an empty pit on your side captures the pit opposite. Collect on 4Whenever a seed you drop makes any pit hold exactly 4, on either side, you collect those 4 at once and carry on sowing. A pit that already holds 4 becomes 5 and is not collected. While this is on, only 4s are collected. End-game sweepWhen the player to move has no seeds, the player who moved last takes every seed left on the board. Feed ruleWhen your opponent's row is empty, you must play a move that gives them seeds if one exists.

How to play

Each player owns the row of six pits nearest them. Every pit starts with 4 seeds.
On your turn, lift every seed from one of your pits and sow them one per pit, counter-clockwise.
If your last seed lands in a pit that already holds seeds, lift them all and keep sowing. This is relay sowing.
Whenever a seed you drop makes any pit hold exactly 4, on your side or your opponent's, you collect those 4 at once and carry on sowing. A pit that already holds 4 becomes 5 and stays.
Your turn ends when your last seed lands in an empty pit or makes a 4.
A sowing of 12 or more seeds skips the pit it started from.
If your opponent has no seeds, you must give them some when you can.
The first player to 25 seeds wins. A 24 to 24 finish is a draw.
If 60 moves pass with nothing collected, the game ends and each side keeps the seeds in its own row.
Turning off relay sowing and collect on 4 in House rules gives Ayò Ọlọ́pọ́n, where a last seed that makes 2 or 3 in an opponent's pit captures it.
Tap a pit to sow it. Hover or press and hold to see where the last seed lands. Tap during a sowing to skip it. Keys 1 to 6 sow your pits in sowing order. The arrows choose a pit and Enter sows it.

Ayo (ah-YOH) is the Yoruba name. The game is also called Ayò Ọlọ́pọ́n, Ncho and Okwe.
